Tonight on 60x60 was composed as a tribute to 60x60 and as a thank you to Robert Voisey who works so hard on the behalf of so many composers. The samples are taken from the first 60x60 CD and from a certain television news magazine show.
Banal Blast is my submission to 60x60 in 2009. I wanted to create an energetic track that could function as a transition within the larger mix. It was selected for the 2009 International Mix, which was presented many times in the United States and abroad (including as part of 60x60 Dance and 60x60 Video.)

Shortcuts are a kind of experimentation, often with unpredictable results.
My submission to 60x60 in 2012. This composition builds a complex beat one layer at time. The title is a reference to the supposed apocalypse coming at the end of 2012.
A silly title for this, my second ever composition completed while studying music formally. It's a typical student work, but everyone begins somewhere.
There are three movements:
1) Flourish
2) Soliloquy
3) "Vaults"*
* it's in 3/4 time, because one really stupid pun wasn't enough...
This is the first piece I ever composed while formally studying music. (I had composed a bunch of other things before this, but the official history begins here.) The theme is extrapolated from something I had composed for piano in high school. The variations are simple exercises in stylistic explorations.
This music was inspired by a visit to the Grand Haven Lighthouse one winter.The entire structure was covered by a thick coat of ice, making it both beautiful and ominous. It was at once serene and surreal. I’ll never forget it.
Mob Mentality was composed during the 2004 presidential election campaign. I had grown weary of the level of dialog across the entire political spectrum. The result is this caustic, sarcastic composition.
Commissioned by Dr. Susan Fisher at OSU for her biology course, this piece used Max/MSP to generate music based on DNA segments. The music does not have a one-to-one correspondence with segments of the DNA code, instead it will use the process of DNA translation as a metaphor for the compositional process.
